The Babas Group supports fathers on their journey to reunification and family stability. This program uses culturally responsive practices and trauma-informed care to guide participants through systemic challenges while fostering healing and resilience. Fathers learn to advocate for themselves, manage emotional triggers, and build enduring connections with their children in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. fundamental rights, and we are committed to fighting for those rights in every case we take on.
BABAS is led by an African American male Parent Coach with an MSW, someone who brings lived experience, professional training, and deep cultural understanding to the table. This isn’t just about advice—it’s about real talk, real support, and real healing in a space where you’re truly seen.
With a trauma-informed approach, you’ll feel validated, heard, and empowered as you navigate the challenges of fatherhood and reunification. Plus, fathers who have successfully reunited with their children help co-lead, offering firsthand wisdom and encouragement. You’re not alone in this
This group isn’t just a program—it’s a community. Over 10 weeks, we meet twice a week in small, supportive groups (6–10 participants) where trust, honesty, and growth take center stage. Through a mix of guided discussions, structured activities, and open sharing, we create a space for fathers to process their experiences, heal from trauma, and rebuild their confidence as parents.
We start by building trust and safety, laying the foundation for open and respectful conversations. Then, we work through the tough stuff—grief, loss, and the systemic challenges that weigh heavy—while reinforcing dignity, self-worth, and resilience. Finally, we shift toward empowerment, strengthening family bonds and equipping fathers with practical tools for long-term stability. And it doesn’t stop when the sessions end—ongoing mentorship, community support, and therapy options ensure you stay connected and continue growing.
We acknowledge the unique challenges fathers—especially those from marginalized communities—face in the child welfare system. We address harmful stereotypes that influence decisions about removal and reunification while equipping fathers with the tools to advocate for themselves effectively. In a safe, non-judgmental space, fathers can share their experiences, process emotions, and reframe challenges as opportunities for growth. Here, your voice matters, your struggles are understood, and your victories are celebrated so you can reclaim your power in fatherhood.
Our program takes a holistic approach to support fathers in their reunification journey. We provide practical guidance on navigating case plans, court requirements, and working effectively with caseworkers. Beyond the system, we focus on emotional regulation—helping fathers recognize triggers, manage stress, and build resilience through self-care.
With the right tools and knowledge, fathers can confidently move forward, strengthen their relationships, and create a stable future for their families.
Fatherhood is challenging, but you’re not alone. In our 10-week program, gain tools to navigate the system, manage stress, and advocate for yourself—all while connecting with fathers who understand your journey.
Reclaim your role, strengthen your family, and build a confident, stable future.
